BRASILIA Tim Heed Jersey , April 1 (Xinhua) -- Brazil's former minister of education, Cid Gomes, on Friday presented an impeachment requirement against Vice President Michel Temer, leader of the Brazilian Democratic Movement Party (PMDB), which left the government this week.
Gomes, a former governor of the state of Ceara and a member of the Democratic Labour Party (PDT), stated that Temer should be impeached based on the accusations alleging his involvement in the Petrobras corruption ring.
He also asked for the impeachment requirement to be evaluated by Waldir Maranhao Melker Karlsson Jersey , vice president of the Chamber and not by its president, Eduardo Cunha, although both men are from the PMDB.
""It has been revealed that Temer received a payment worth 5 million reais (1.4 million U.S. dollars), which is highly suspicious,"" read the document given by Gomes.
This allegation stems from the testimony from Leo Pinheiro, an executive with OAS, a construction company Kevin Labanc Jersey , who revealed conversations between Temer and Cunha concerning the payment of bribes.
However, Gomes also used his platform to say that he thought the impeachment process against President Dilma Rousseff, being analyzed by the Chamber, had no basis to exist since she has not been accused of any crime.
A previous impeachment requirement against Temer, presented by lawyer Mariel Marley Marra, was shelved by Cunha although Marra petitioned the Supreme Court on Friday to revisit it.
