DUBLIN， Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- New car sales went down in October when compared with the same month of 2015， according to figures released on Tuesday.
The data from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) showed there were 2，243 new cars registered last month， 12.3 percent fewer than in October 2015， making it the second month in a row of falling sales.
But new car sales for the year to date remained higher year on year， up 18 percent， with 145，433 sold between January and October.
Volkswagen was the top selling make of car in October. The Volkswagen Passat and Golf were the best selling models in the month.
But Hyundai remained the most popular make of car in the year to date. Its Tucson model became the most popular model of car in the first ten months of the year.
SIMI expects a slow-down in new vehicle registrations in the final quarter of the year， with much smaller numbers each month compared to the peak selling months.
"Indeed the industry is already moving its focus to the 2017 sales period， as can be seen and heard in current advertising campaigns，" SIMI Director General Alan Nolan said.
"Whether this has been influenced by the Brexit situation or just a slowing of retail activity in the Irish economy， after a sustained period of growth， is not yet clear but this is something that the industry will be continuing to watch closely，" he said. Enditem

HAVANA Cheap Jordan 13 , Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- Cuba's boxing team Domadores (Tamers, in English) is in the final preparations to defend the championship of World Series of Boxing (WSB) beginning Jan. 16.
According to Domadores' coach Rolando Acebal Cheap Jordan 1 , who was elected as the best coach in the past season, the Cuban team Cheap Air Jordan 6 , which includes 32 boxers, is ready for the WBS 5th season to be held first in Havana's Sport City.
Domadores will first face Morocco's Lions Cheap Jordan 6 , who will debut in WSB.
Acebal said Cuba's team is led by Olympic champions Roniel Iglesias (69-kg) and Robeisy Ramirez (56-kg).
The Cuban team also includes Erislandy Savon (91-kg), who was elected as the past season's best boxer Cheap Jordan 5 , when Cuba debuted and won the championship.
Also, twice world champions Lazaro Alvarez (60-kg) and Julio Cesar La Cruz (81-kg) Cheap Jordan 3 , as well as world runner-up and Olympic bronze medal winner Yasnier Toledo (64-kg) are part of Domadores.
After the five-division matches against the Moroccan team in Havana, Domadores will face Algeria's Desert Hawks.
The WSB finals will be held in Dubai in June 11 and 12 Cheap Jordan 12 Retro , some days before the beginning of Toronto 2015 Pan-American Games.
Domadores won the WSB past season by defeating Azerbaijan's Baku Fires.

BEIJING， May 19 (Xinhua) -- A U.S. military aircraft carried out reconnaissance close to China's island of Hainan Tuesday， in the country's most recent provocation against China's legitimate rights and interests.
In total disregard of China's call not to disturb peace in the South China Sea， Washington recently has been busy flexing its military muscle at China's doormat.
Last week， the U.S. warship， USS William P. Lawrence， intruded into Chinese waters near the Nansha Islands without the permission of the Chinese government.
Such acts， carried out in the name of either "routine patrols" or "freedom of navigation，" are nothing but blatant provocations against China's maritime security interests.
Such dangerous and irresponsible activities also significantly increase the risk of military misjudgment in the region.
The Pentagon said that two Chinese fighter jets carried out an intercept of the U.S. aircraft Tuesday in an "unsafe" manner.
While accusing Chinese aircraft of carrying out an "unsafe" intercept， Washington seems to forget that its frequent close reconnaissance jeopardizing China's sea and air safety are a true source of worry as they could result in accidents and put China and U.S. military security at risk.
China's countermeasures are reasonable， necessary and wholly legitimate as the U.S. acts have already posed serious threats to China's sovereignty and security interests.
And compared with those countries which sent their military planes to others' doorsteps， China cherishes more the safety of its personnel and equipment.
There is every reason to demand that the United States end its "close-in" aerial and naval surveillance of China and stop muddying the waters in the region so as to fish for political gains.
China， which holds no "excessive claim" of sovereignty in South China Sea， believes in communication and dialogue. Neither muscle-flexing nor arbitrary intervention will shake its resolve to safeguard its sovereignty and maritime rights.
Besides stopping its provocative acts， Washington should also honor its commitment of not taking sides on the South China Sea issue， if peace and stability is what it really wants to see and achieve in the region.
